We wander these tiny, terrified tracks we call our lives, nose down like half-awake rodents, forgetting we’re also cosmic animals with teeth and light inside. I’m guilty too. But I’m learning—slowly, dangerously—that we can tear the script up any time.

The world’s gone sideways because too many of us forgot to look another human being in the eye and recognize the same trembling miracle staring back at us. It’s time to haul the warm, beating heart back into the center of all things and bow to it like an ancient teacher.
